Community Involvement Conference Poster Presentations
The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is sponsoring a poster program at this year’s conference. Poster authors will have the opportunity to present their research on public education and community involvement projects in this unique setting. These stand-alone visual presentations will be on display throughout the duration of the conference and will be highlighted during two “poster session;” one during the Networking Hour on Tuesday, July 23, and one during a continental breakfast on Wednesday, July 23. During these poster sessions, conference participants will have the chance to speak one-on-one with the poster authors about their work.
Two awards, the “People’s Choice Award” and the “Best Overall Poster,” will be presented to recognize those individuals with the most outstanding poster presentations. The awards are open to any conference participant who presents a poster during the Poster Sessions. The posters will be evaluated on:
- Clarity — coherent and effective message
- Layout and Design — organization and neatness of poster (aesthetic composition)
- Content and Research — engaging and original, well thought out and explored
- Readability — legible from five feet away
The Best Overall Poster will be selected by three judges chosen by ICMA staff. The People’s Pick award will be determined by votes of conference participants. After viewing the posters and talking to the poster authors during the poster sessions, each participant can cast a vote for the People’s Pick award. Poster ballots will be distributed during the conference. The completed ballots must be placed in ballot boxes located in the poster area by 5:30 pm, Wednesday, July 23. The award winners will be announced during lunch on Thursday, July 24.
The winner of the Best Overall Poster Award and the People’s Pick Award will receive a framed award certificate. In addition, ICMA will make arrangements to post the award-winning posters on the this web page after the conference.
